i thought i was going to be a jazz musician until i realized that doing so meant you had to be playing with professional proficiency by age 16
I've played guitar and piano for about 12 years.

playing clarinet doesn't mean anything
palying it in a school program/marching program is meaningless unless you're actually taking it seriously
i came up with a thirty second violin composition in my head. it's derivative of Brahms, but i feel it more than qualifies me for any type of musical discussion and judging of taste

Does playing ukulele make me a musician?
I really don't think it should count.
I play the drums (get hired to gig sometimes in okc), piano, and mallet percussion such as marimba and vibraphone. I really want to become proficient at mallet percussion but you know when you're not in high school you can't bum off the band room keyboards anymore
