Soft Bulletin is the only album that even slightly competes with OTC's output, and even then, it's really stale neopsychedilia. OTC fused musique concrete with leitmotifs, infectious melodies, and incredibly varied instrumentation in both of their LPs and they both blow away the FLips brand of neopsych.
I didn't know /mu/ liked the FLips so much. Almost makes me question my own taste.
I find the lyrics, especially the ones on Clouds Taste Metallic and Soft Bulletin to be super fun. they're just so charming and silly, and when you're tripping balls they feel like they're speaking to you and understand what you are thinking and going through.
