I had a look at Pitchfork's top 50 as I usually do this time of year, being a

They basically follow 4 genres: flimsy solo folky shit like Sufjan Stevens (stale leftovers of the last few years), flimsy ethereal womens shit like Julia Holter and Grimes, muh quirky electronic and the rest is black.
