Only 10/10 albums of real metal
Following aspects must be 10/10
>Songwriting
>Lyrics
>Vocals
>Guitar tone
>Bass tone
>Drums are audible and grim & NO GAY DRUMMACHINES
>Cover art & art altogether
>Not a single bad or 'filler' songs on the album
Metalcore/grindcore/ANYTHINGSTARTINGWITHcore/screamo/nu/progressive/experimental/industrial/megadeth/cob/pantera/sabaton -fags LEAVE THE HALL
My favorite of all time :
Dissection - Storm of the Light's Bane
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6G9tEqqMqnw
>Songwriting is sublime. Each song is a dark masterpiece, not ending 'when it's supposed to' or ending predictably. For example: Where Dead Angels Lie. The energy of each song is unearthly
>Lyrics are flawless.
"Woeful one of endless sight beyond the veil of time
Of ancient darkness you are the keeper
My soul is black and black as night are the ways of thine
Wield the scythe of the Soulreaper"
>Even lyrics that would usually be repeated differ through out the same song, concluding the grim story, for example Thorns of Crimson Death
>Vocals crush 90% of today's metal
>Tone of the guitars is cold as ice, just like the album as a whole
>Cover and art is spot-on, well created and matches the album perfectly
>Not a single 'filler', the intro builds up a dark atmosphere like none other, and the outro leaves you in awe of this masterpiece

I think we have a winner here!

Here. Concrete proof.
100% proof that black metal bands whose members get arrested for murder have a RYM average of at least 0.5 points higher than they otherwise would have received without any major felonies.
This is utterly unoriginal, forgettable, corny black metal the way 100s of other bands play it.
BUT.
But one of its members killed an innocent man and that immediately gets some kids' juices flowing, and suddenly they start imagining that they're hearing something SPECIAL when in fact it's well below average.
Ridiculous.

It's only below average and shit if compared to actual good music. It's not any worse than any other edgy scandinavian turdcore.
anything Iron Maiden desu
modern classic reporting
Just so this wouldn't be only about Dissection, post your 10/10 albums.
I started this to find more great music, I don't actually care about your opinions of the albums I already know and have formed an opinion about.

Great album
>inb4 "e-e-experimental"
This album was fucking incredible, one of the few metal albums that manage to be both unique and actually metal at the same time. too many bands who deviate from the path drop what makes metal so good in the first place. The riffs and keyboards are on point, ridiculously fun album and all of the songs are memorable, it's a fucking bizarre journey.

MGLA
Their live rituals are fucking mesmerizing
perfect sound, nothing has really come close to pulling it off since
Tl; dr OP is an autistic man child.
Clearly their artistic peak and one of the best power metal albums that exist.
Maybe not the artwork
Greatest death metal album of all time.
Also SOTLB is fucking god tier.
>that riff on Fanthomless Depths
>b-b-but it's prog black!!!1!1!1!
>and it's murican!1!!1!
A masterpiece is a masterpiece, and this album fuck epitomizes everything that black metal should be. Grim, dark, ambient, horrifying, but also sometimes melancholically beautiful.
10/10
70s priest > 80's priest
Hilarious image/cover aside holy shit are these guys some.fucking crazy musicians. That riff on one by one alone, how... Honestly thought there were 2 guitars. Teaching myself Into The Infinity of Thoughts by emperor has been hard enough, but I just don't understand how you pick that fast
It's a symphonic metal classic for a reason.

>eaching myself Into The Infinity of Thoughts by emperor has been hard enough, but I just don't understand how you pick that fast
It's called tremolo picking. You simply alternate pick as fast as you can and you're there.
The hard part is switching notes and chords at that speed, that is legitimately difficult
Underrated af

>>61178615
>cover art affect's album's quality
