All the first-listen reviews for Blackstar have been incredibly positive.
Guardian: "the sound of an unknowable artist steadfastly ignoring his own past£
Telegraph: "Extraordinary"
How hyped are you?
Hyped for the inevitable leak

Very hyped, especially after reading this review: http://www.thenational.ae/arts-life/the-review/album-review-david-bowies-blackstar--a-remarkable-return-to-form#full
Apparently some people have already got the album, the release date for the lithographs in the ltd edition was yesterday, but I guess there was a mix up and they sent the album too. Should leak soon.
Extremely hype. Blackstar and the rest of the singles are all amazing.

Hype as fuck, this could be his best (and most consistent) album since Lodger, possibly even "Heroes".
btw, what are peoples' opinions of the 'Hours...'/Heathen/Reality triptych? I remember Heathen getting massive reviews at the time but these days those three don't really get talked about except to balk at Reality's shitty artwork.

Love Heathen, the last truly great Bowie album, (though I have a feeling this will surpass it) I think Hours is really underrated, I really like Reality as well.

I fucking adore Heathen, and honestly believe it's his highest point since 1980. Hours is really a grower, it sounds bland as fuck but once you listen to it a bit more, there's tons of details you'd miss the first time around. Reality is moreso straight-forward rock, but Bring Me The Disco King is classic Bowie t b h

it's a fucking Scott Walker ripoff album by someone with only 1/10th the ambition and 1/100th the vocal talent
>>61149798
That's fine I already own a few Walker albums.
This might be the best album of his since fucking "Low".
HYPE AS FUCK MAN

why are you here?
fuck off

lazarus best song of all time
>>61149854
Reviews don't even put Lazarus as a strong point on the album. That shows a lot about the quality of Blackstar
>>61149715
It's really good but it seemed like all of the songs could've been off his old albums, and he used the Heathen/Reality band so it so it sounds like it could've been recorded in 2004 for the most part. Don't mean that as a negative, it's just interesting him looking back which he doesn't normally do. I read a review which said TND feels like a warmup compared to Blackstar. Seems pretty accurate.
>>61149715
TND is pretty much an expansion on the rock sound of Reality, just not as bland imo. Heat really hinted at the sound that this album will have, it sounds completely different from everything else on the album.

finally listening to "Lazarus" and "Blackstar", I'm stoked for this album. It's fucking amazing. David Bowie continues to surprise me.
