Your right, I listened to it again and the vocals are pretty horrendous. I was just exited to try my hand at rapping once I'd finished the lyrics. Check again in a while I'll have a better version.

You need to cut some of the low freqs out of the guitar too, way too boomy.

The synth strings are too thin.
I guess you could kind of save it with really interesting production/fx/pads etc. give it more movement and interest so that something keeps your brain active through the dreary song structure.

If you think this song is just about devil worship then maybe you've misinterpreted it; did you pay attention to the chorus? It's more about identifying with the abandonment and sense of loss Lucifer must feel than anything, and that's definitely an expression of my thoughts and emotions. Also I have a whole host of s ongs on my SC that express my thoughts, ideas, and emotions. You're preaching to the choir, man; I've been writing for long enough to know what I want to write about. This is just a tribute to one of my favorite folk artists and a way to vent about feelings of loneliness.
But everything in terms of production, I can totally see. Guess it's time to go back to the drawing board mix-wise, I appreciate the input.

Yeah, the style is kind of intended for a niche audience, so I can totally understand if you don't feel it. I've been considering doing a follow-up to my acoustic album, which was a concept album about suicidal depression, and this track was an experiment in new production techniques I'd picked up since then, and as I said, a way to vent some negativity and pay homage to Of The Wand And The Moon. I certainly don't expect everyone to like it, it just speaks to me.
The technical critiques are really what I was hoping to get here more than anything because I'm very much secure with it from a writing standpoint but I'm still growing as a producer (well, I'm always growing in every aspect but you know what I mean) and it's always good to hear ways to improve the production-fidelity of what I'm writing. As I said, it's much appreciated and I'll get hammering away at refining the mix.
Sidenote, do you think a light, low-in-the-mix string part or something would be good to add during the verses to keep attention? I considered it but something in my head convinced me not to. Or maybe a lead guitar part?

If there was any advice I could give to anyone trying to write music, it'd be this. This is actually something I've been trying to do a lot more lately and I can't stress enough how much I agree with you there. It's the reason why I layered up the chorus so much with all the vocal tracks, strings, guitar and synth. Just need to flesh out the mix.

Try to get more progression in your tracks. Let them build up to something.
Also introduce more sounds and more subtle fx throughout the song.
But i have to be honest the energy thing isnt ur biggest problem imo.
Ur flow/vocals in this tracks are a true disaster. and the generic beat doesnt help either.
Try to look up some decent vocals processing tutorials. And try to get the best recording
possible. Dont compromise because u can edit it later...
