i think ruins and dragging a dead deer up a hill are somewhat accesible too.

I think I've listened to both AIA albums twice back in 2011. Found them pleasant enough, but I never felt the need to listen to them again.

I probably should, maybe they'll grow on me.

Nah, look at how popular Stars of the Lid and Tim Hecker are. People like this kind of fuzzy, comfy, blurry sound, no matter who makes it — though it's true that her vocals have a big importance.
