Thoughts about this album?
why does twee pop always sound so cool in concept but it's the shittiest thing in execution
is putting any sort of effort into your songs un-twee?
>>61123225
I really love this album though anon, and it's clear they putted alot of effort into making this
>>61123199
i like it, it borders on being TOO sweet at times but it's generally very pleasant. the ambient interludes are overkill tho, and when they try to be noisy they disappoint.
>>61123263
The ambient interludes are a big part of what makes this album so good for me though.
>>61123284
I feel like they're not particularly well done; they just loop a certain snippet of tremolo'd organ for a minute while blasting some cheesy synths over it. it's not particularly terrible but it takes some of the momentum out of the album, unlike, say, Loveless, where the interludes fit well into the feel of the album and don't overstay their welcome.
still a solid 7/10 tho.

I agree and am mostly frustrated when I try to find some gems in this genre. Maybe I'm just not predisposed to it. But then I hear something like this:

and I get so excited. But then I can't find anything as good.

I fully disagree with you, i think the interludes are brilliant and a big part of what makes this album so good. not only that the interludes don't overstay their welcome, i would have liked it just as much if they were all longer.
Also the fact the interludes are so repetitive gives it very captivating and hypnotic quality. and the synths are very warm in my opinion.
i'm a fan of ambiance so, also consider that i usually really love ambient parts in albums. for example, if you look at the album Shaking The Habitual by The Knife, i think Old Dreams To Be Realized and Fracking Fluid Injection are absolutely brilliant tracks and they make the album better as a whole for me

i can give u a list of good twee bands rn
>>61123704
Does what I posted sound good to you? If so, then please.
it's great, the Stereolab organ is such an obvious thing to incorporate into twee, I'm surprised they were about the only ones to do it
I'm a sucker for classic twee, it's so comfy
this is my favorite song from them

this^^^ stereolab are one of the most underrated bands. i dont believe they get enough hype as they should
is Lake twee-pop? if not what is it? I want more stuff like them.

>>61123858
The Motifs is also worth adding to that list
>>61123875
I love Stereolab too, but they get alot of appreciation imo
>>61123858
I don't mean to seem ungrateful, but I didn't post Rocketship, it was a song by The Sunny Street. I think Rocketship are a little boring. I like some B&S, my favorite songs are Jonathan David and Marx & Engles--they have more inventive arrangements and melodic progressions than most twee I hear. I've also liked some Softies and Jen Wood. Lichtenstein, but that's closer to new wave pop. Any band in particular you would recommend?

sounds a bit like beirut IMO

>>61124158
Oh, I forgot I really like Underachievers, Please Try Harder, but not much else CO did.
>>61123858
that list should include the lords of twee, The Pastels
>>61124210
eh, the instrumentation is pretty much the same but the style of each is completely different to me. damn guess I'll never know.

stuff posted here is giving me a Masters of the Hemisphere vibe, they were probably my faves of this kind of pop
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ScaHk7CMNqQ
wow no one posted them, i'm disappointed.
Friendly reminder that you should be listening to the Sarah Records catalog right now.

Great songwriting but the fucking organ or whatever that shit is is mixed so fucking loud it ruins the entire thing for me
>>61125659
>organ or whatever that shit is is mixed so fucking loud
this is the only complaint I have, but it doesn't really ruin the album for me
>crazyaga
haven't been here in a while but I remembrer when everyone used to shit on you over two years ago, it was hilarious
This album was one of my favorites when I first started expanding my musical taste past jpop and linkin park
friendship and love is so fucking perfect man
