Why is Nines so popular in the UK?
This guy gets so many fucking views on his videos and is really popular in London. But he's genuinely one of the worst rappers I've ever heard. His flow is terrible and off-beat, and his voice is so boring it makes him sound like a SoundCloud struggle rapper. But he gets millions of views on each video.
Apparently he's a good lyricist but I can't really tell because I can't stand his voice and can only listen to him for like 30 seconds at a time.
Can someone explain the appeal please?

Look at this Wretch 32 Fire In The Booth from a few days ago. It's absolutely fucking fantastic. This is a fucking amazing freestyle. Lyrically he's absolutely destroyed the beat. The other guy is pretty decent too but Wretch is just absolutely insane.
Why don't rappers like this use grime beats? They suit the accent much better imo.

Grime used to be exclusively about "I'm a better MC than you/my crews better than yours/are you really from the ends" and placed more focus on hype tracks rather than lyrics so Grime MCs were bound to never focus on it as much. There are some who do it better than others though. For example Kano's freestyle over Ghetto Kyote is still the best thing Grime has produced to this date.

I don't know lyrical people want to call them but everyone in Macabre Unit has a fantastic flow and are able to use metaphors particularly well compared to other Grime MCs.

The production is great but a genre where "you look like you've got AIDS you look like you've got HIV" is considered a legendary lyric is certainly lacking in substance.
