Is Emo the most misunderstood genre in the history of music?
>>61089671
it's free jazz
>>61089745
free jazz is shit though and you are a jackass
>>61089789
free jazz is good, you're just a pleb who literally just can't understand it
>nobody understands me and i struggle to understand myself
i think most people understand emo, even the people that laugh it off

I could give some credit to Emo being misunderstood musically, which is what matters to me. But lyrically it's completely shit.

nobody should go into any song and expect fucking ts eliot
Emo Phillips is a very funny guy.

I think it's pretty well understood as a whiny, melodramatic version of punk rock.
It's okay to have guilty pleasures without defending their quality dude, I still listen to emo because I like it but I know it's objectively shitty.
>>61090454
Why is melodrama objectively bad though?
>>61089671
Capn Jazz and Everyone Asked About You are good but that's literally it
dude its weak jazz too. like "jazzy" textures, a bunch of unresolved and 7th chords. trying so hard to not play power chords but its still overall easy mode, weak songwriting.
american football is pure cringe

Melodrama is inherently insincere, art that is insincere is not good art

>no Indian Summer
>no I Hate Myself
these bands are just as good as cap'n jazz, anon...

Not really, it started of as terribly expressive hardcore, then shifted to entitled indie sounding music whining about how nobody understands (like your post) or how it sucks to have a nice 2 story house with everything you could possibly want.
