>Sounds crazy modern for an album from '93
maybe that's just an ailment of modern metal.

there are so many upstart bands playing really hard and really loud all at the same time and not exactly writing thoughtful content that actually trys something new, but instead doing the exact same thing with a different shade of black.

Its awesome living in a time with so many bands but what does it even mean if very few of them are actually doing something unique
>>
>>61070445
I mean, the flipside is with so many bands making music, even if a smaller percentage are making something 'good' there's still a tremendous amount of unique and objectively awesome music being released on a regular basis. Take Horrendous for example. They sound like they could be from the early 90s alongside death, but without that framework they wouldn't be creating the top tier shit they make now.

help /metal/ I've really started to like 30s-50s jazz/blues after playing New Vegas. What should I do?
I like guitar heavy, complicated but slow/medium tempo jazz/blues, can you rec any good artists for this? What other genres do you like to listen to, /metal/?
I normally listen to borderline melodeath-y bands like Light this City, Memeway Drive and link related https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJzdR6_mmfY

>2034
Null Drone probe lands on Earth, begins terraforming

Ice caps have all but melted, mass exinction of millions of species shortly followers
>2046
Most coastal regions are washed away at sea, many nations are ravaged to the point of total breakdown
>2052
A nuclear ICBM destroys the island of Los Angeles, igniting a global nuclear war
>2056
Due to climate change, war and famine among other factors the human population is now nearly 500 million
>2057
Cole Serra (main character) is born in New York Island
>2058
The Null Drone invasion begins full force, most major cities are lost in a few days
>2059
New York Island, the most well fortified, protected human stronghold falls as the levees break and the drones invade
Movie opens with the scene of a small bang of resistance fighters holding the drones off for an evac chopper to take off

>2098
Cole is repaired using augments, Matt develops a new combat suit and a new plasma blade as the carbon nano fibers were not enough

Its heavily inspired by kung fu movies, 80s/90s anime, godzilla movies, and shit like warhammer.

>During the second battle of NYI

>Cole orders a team of violet corps soldiers to take down a building to collapse on the mecha and kill it

Can someone formulate an actual argument what's wrong with Kamelot? I mean yeah it's music so you don't have to like it if you don't like it but looking at it from any critically distanced perspective they have a pretty unique sound, lyrics and themes that are far from the typical PM fanfare and as far as I am concerned within their style they have been outputting decent and above albums since Epica.

>lyrics and themes that are far from the typical PM fanfare

The lyrics are boring generic pseudo-fantasy lyrics like all symphocore bands with no coherent stories or messages being told and there's no themeing going on, it's just random standard gothic themes that vary song by song. None of their albums I've heard this far has any coherent themeing.

The only thing unique about their sound is that they've got a dude with a crazy punchable face as the vocalist instead of a corset wearing "goth" girl like all other sympho bands. They've got shitty riffs and generic chord progressions.

They're not bad, they're just generic as fuck and boring. The reason they're hated is because of their fedora wearing fan base and the fact that they just don't make good music.

Okay, it sounds like you just can't play it at the tempo you actually want to. I also can't imagine what the rhythm section would do underneath this except play blast beats, which I think is sort of a played out sound, but there's no accounting for taste.

I love how so many people are hyped for the new Star Wars movies even though 90% of those peoples hate the prequel trilogy. Why do they expect the new movies to be so much better? I don't get it. Personally I like all of the movies so it only makes sense that I'm expecting the new ones to be good too.

You do realize the poll says nothing about disliking genres, do you? Do you think all the people who voted ____ as their favorite hate everything else? Power metal still overrides a lot of other metal discussion on certain days of the week and doesn't really get backlash. Just because it's not a favorite doesn't mean it's disliked. Power metal is definitely not /metal/'s favorite subgenre, it's still a genre /metal/ brings up constantly though.
