there's a point in one's life of dedication to creation/appreciation of music that you find yourself incapable of feeling feels besides those generated by musical gestures or movements.

probably. a lot of the good musicians i know are jaded as fuck and are hard to engage in conversation. most people are insincere with their emotions, and musicians are pretty sincere, so they have to build this wall around them.
most musicians i know are emotionally unstable or otherwise bad at romantic relationships, so yeah i guess
