lol at the token pop-rap artists
this list is the underground music list??
that jlin record is wack as fuck
future on there twice lol
>>61056639
damn, when did this come out? I have a subscription and I usually get an email when the new issue releases...
>>61057141
today lad
>>61056870
that's actually hilarious. 56 nights is great tho
Damn Jlin at the top of Wire and The Quietus lists. It's a good record and all but I don't think it's AOTY
>>61058528
was about to say the same thing
For Those Who Are, Still is a good album but I wasn't as insanely into it as I wish I was. As far as William Parker related projects go I'm more partial to his work on Matthew Shipp's Our Lady of the Flowers. I haven't listened to that new Charles Gayle or Raining on the Moon album yet though.
Also, Matana Roberts' Always is pretty good and I thought Wire would have liked it more.
No Frozen Niagara Falls?
Why is everyone dick riding jlin when dj MasterCard gets no mentions at all? Is it the only footwork album they've listened to?
>>61056639
Fuck David Keenan for using his job to shill his wife
No integrity, also I'm pretty sure she cucks him
>>61058868
Imagine getting cucked by Jandek
Damn....
>>61058816
>>61058528
a black woman making footwork tunes in 2015
ofc thats getting best album
>>61058693
>Matana Roberts' Always
I actually prefer it over part 3.
>>61056639
>black women in top 2 spots
WHITE MEN BTFO
>>61059307
Pretty sure it was a white man's decision, David Keenan shills whoever is willing to talk to him because they make him look like a celeb or something. Hell, he put his wife's shitty noise album at #5 of the year
Pretty crazy they put HYIMW at #4 after publishing that pretty scathing review of the album
>>61056639
No Adele no buy
>>61059264
I think I might prefer Part 3 just as an extension to the Coin Coin cycle, but Matana's other standalone projects are always really good and Always really continues this AACM solo tradition that I adore.
Her Chicago Project album might actually be my favorite from her in general though.
>>61059212
it would be an honor to be cucked by jandek t︂b︂︂h f︂︂a︂m
>>61059417
thats what i was thinking too
>>61056639
nice to see o'rourke getting some recognition
sure Simple Songs wasn't on the same level as Eureka/Insignificiance but it's still better than the literal meme rap being thrown around on AOTY lists
>The Epic
>2 spots for Future
>Dark Energy at number one
>no Arca
embarrassing
>>61056639
Love that Lnrdcroy album is fantastic but I'm pretty sure it came out in 2014
No Laurel Halo =(
Anyone betting on Dark Energy topping TMT's list?
Future deserves to be on there, serious. I would have just put his two releases in the same slot, like FACT I think did.
>>61058868
Keenan's been using his spot at The Wire to shill Volcanic Tongue since forever now. He's written positive reviews for Volcanic Tongue releases, and then quoted himself on the sleeve of the release. I don't know if the shilling or giving us New Weird America is worse.
>>61056639
most lists make me mad but this is actually pretty good.
>>61056639
>1. Jlin - Dark Energy
How?
>>61060118
Black and a tranny
is jlin trans?
>>61060150
sure looks like it
>>61059417
reviews are by individuals who are typically on staff and the list is compiled from submissions from voters in the industry at large. it's not a staff list like other publications do.
>>61060252
it's just a staff and contributors vote

>>61060146
>>61060150
shes not trans but shes also not a good artist. doc martinwork fucking sucks.
2014-2015 were the years footwork became diluted by hipster faggots who appropriated a genre by poor blacks
>inb4 shes a poor black
no shes from an upper middle class suburban family and went to college.
>>61060417
how do u know she's not a tranny? cause if i saw her pics without knowing who she is i'd just think it was a long haired black guy. i know black women can be manly looking but damn
>>61056639
>julia, matana, holly and jim in top 10
very nice
would subscribe/10
>>61060417
>2014-2015 were the years footwork became diluted by hipster faggots who appropriated a genre by poor blacks
Machinedrum and Kuedo and guys like that got a hold of it years ago... and they arguably received more coverage in British dance/club media than Teklife did
shame Rashad died, he wanted to take it world-wide and establish Teklife as an institution, now it's all up to Spinn
>>61059959
Nahhh
It's gonna be something more conceptual, like American Drift, but DE will place high (maybe even top 10)
