There was interview with him and the guy told him "We all know John Lennon wasn't an angel" and George replied " He was " which really surprised the interviewer. I also recall either Paul or George saying that at his worst John was pretty bad, but at his best he was the nicest guy he ever met or something like this.

But that makes sense, normally when your dad its a shitty person and you know it you generally grow up to be a nice person because you really don't want to be a clone of the asshole that raised you.
An example: I'm practically my dad, with the exception that my dad is very temperamental, as a child i saw him getting mad at stupid shit and fucking up situatons that would be nice if he chilled out for a bit, so instead of being temperamental i learned to be as chill as i can be and vent my temperament on something than doesnt make me look like an ass.
