>3.9 million hits on youtube
How did this become such a popular album? I mean yeah, it's pretty chill, and it has its moments but i got pretty bored half way through listening. What's your opinion /mu/?
>>
>>61031309
It's incredibly influential in electronic music and is amazingly ahead of its time sonically. It's just a really solid techno album.
>>
nothing amazing but still best afx by far and if u disagree ur taste is objectively shit lol
>>
>>61031309
There are an estimated 3 billion internet users. 3.9 million views on a YouTube video is nothing, AFX is still your seekrit klub OP.

there wasn't that much shit like this to listen to back then and most of it was awful.
>>
Haven't found another electronic album that's totally enjoyable like this one and that bumps good...Orbital second album is up there for me.

Anyone recommend something good that's anything like this album? Probably not...

shpongle, underworld, bonobo, burial, richie hawtin (and alias'), oliver lieb (and alias') u-ziq (and alias'), boards of canada, william orbit, the orb, massive attack, 4Hero, meat beat manifesto

most of these aren't very similar styles just things I enjoy as a big listener of orbital and RDJ
>>
>>61032541
Thanks mate, I listen to some of those and some I haven't. I listened to Orb's first album recently and enjoyed that.

I commend the effort but any essentials list ends up being so long that there's no point.

Anyway, Vordohsbn is the GOAT. I once read an essay about the film "Children of Men" which argued that the beauty of the film is in the background, the events happening at the fore are just a means to experience the setting of the film. I feel that way about Vordohsbn. The more you concentrate on the percussion, the more the sheer beauty of the melody is accentuated. Conversely, the more you focus on the melody, the more you get caught up in the erratic yet not-a-single-beat-out-of-place percussion. It combines elegant simplicity with chaos in a way that no other Aphex track quite manages to do. It's his best work and quite possibly the best song of its kind ever made.

even though i can't even spell it, *vordhosbn. i realise that's a pretentious as fuck description but i really do love vordhosbn

Nice.
I do love Vordhosbn
>>
>>61032946
not an essentials list. I was meant to respond to >>61031349 I just had a look and chose the ones I was feeling today

Vordhosbn is bangin

hard to say his debut is his best "by far"

it's all so good. I love Analord for that warm but gritty lushness.

im sure alot of us may have our opinions about syro as a whole, but you cant deny xmas is one of his best tracks.
>>
>>61032433
Autechre's entire body of work is fantastic, and they're probably the most consistent of the IDM "big three" when it comes to releasing music. Now if only they could reissue their shit...
