Humans do lots of irrational activities when "better" alternatives exist, entire industries are build on humans doing things "wrong"

1) your ears can hardly make the difference between 60 db and 120 db of dynamic range, and the music itself hardly make use of such a dynamic range (because you wouldn't hear it etc), especially in dance music where everything must hit harder
2) furthermore, inferior on the paper doesn't mean inferior in your ears, the subtle compression, saturation and blurring of the stereo image is often quite pleasant
try to grab the vinyl rips of some webs versions you have on your computer and listen.
3) it's the go to medium for dj who doesn't rely on their usb stick
