I'd like to ask someone more knowledgable than I am when exactly funk moved to disco and how much funk has actully influenced disco
>>61005134
De La Soul sample it on their second album
>>61005448
funk has usually a more dominant rhythmic section, brass instruments, is usually more instrumental and uses syncopated rhythms
disco is quite often in binary rhythm (4/4 is probably the msot used of all), goes around 120-135bpm with times 2 and 4 usually emphasized. the use of synthetizers is also quite dominant
while both come from soul and jazz, disco is more of an 80s thing that took elements developed by funk during the late 60s and the 70s, like the latin touch you can sometime have in both
>>61005451
I didn't know that, but since I haven't heard a De la soul album in years I don't think it's where I could have listened to the track you posted earlier
Funk is great when it's not just cheesy shit like Funadelic.
>>61005669
very interesteing post man thanks, so could we say that bands active since the late 70s like Boney M are responsible for funk influences in disco music?
>>61005819
fuck *interesting
>>61005697
I don't know this "Funadelic" band, but that's a good name for sure
>>61005819
absolutely, although they are also to be blamed, with a couple of others like ABBA and such, for creating the kind of bland commercial disco hits made only for saling a lot, which instantly flooded and killed the "real" disco movement that was taking off

reposting this btw, excellent P-funk album that just came out, made by some unknown aussie with most of the Funkadelic/Parliament crew
