if you only pay attention to the media "controversey" that her stage show tends to elicit, you'd think she's some sort of wanton debauched slut. but for all her lewd imagery, she doesn't really eroticise it. you're primed for madonna but what you get is meatspin. this has an element of irony to it, but the show itself? utterly sincere. miley cyrus thinks singing while a strap-on (with flashing siren balls) flops around is funny\entertaining spectacle. she gives a fuck- about her charity, about her veganism, about her family and friends. it's all about funneling that lack of self-restraint into a positive force, because otherwise you just lick pussy on molly all day while feeling sorry for yourself. maybe it's my fault for not being entirely clear, i haven't really slept and am honestly having trouble event writing coherently.
also, her bangerz tour played far, far more on the irony of the expectations vs reality of her stage show. that concert had loads of fun imagery (like the president clinton blowup doll, people were really perplexed with that one but making clinton literally the objectified one in a blowjob joke was hilarious). dead petz' show is pretty much entirely sincere to the point where she literally dances around as a stick of butter for "Slab of Butter;" there's no irony to it, it's just a fitting and fun visual for the song. Tying into the thread topic, she performs BB Talk in baby costume, but it's not sexualized at all, in fact the design of the costume uses the conical nightie design of the "posse" segment of the video which is just a silly costume with zero sexual element to it.

pick one. besides, how much sex people have and drugs people do really don't have much bearing on their character. miley seems like an alright person to me. maybe i've been fooled by marketing but i thought even attempting this album was brave and the undeveloped potential it represents means more to me than the actual contents of the album

i happened to like a nice chunk of the songs of the album, but i'm not going to pretend that it's going to appeal to everybody. i feel that it plays with the language of contemporary pop in the same way that an album like transmissions from the satellite heart played with the early 90's alternative aesthetic. as for her lyrics, i found their naivete endearing even if they are an obvious weak point
