I've been a retrowave fan since I first found it, because I'm an '80s junkie. I found this song the other day and was baffled for how much it sounds like actual old synthwave:

Can you guys recommend more retrowave stuff that sounds like that?
I love modern retrowave (like Trevor Something, for example) but this is very unique among retrowave and really nice to have too.
I have to return some videotapes now, I hope there's some music when I'm back

Dangerous Intentions by Patterns

That whole album is straight uncut 80's.

Good shit is on the bottom. Lead singer and guitarist quit after just one album.
I don't know, the vocals don't seem right. I think the guy needs to try to put on a fake English accent.

thanks based anon, I'll check it out!

>Good shit is on the bottom. Lead singer and guitarist quit after just one album.
wow, I listened to the new shit and the voice sounds like Lana del Rey or some modern crap like that. That said, while the old stuff is full blown retro I don't think they really sound like they are from the '80s.

found the culprit, it's the singer. "Fire face" sounds straight from the 80s except for the vocals.
BTW, do you guys think this sounds straight from the 80s? I love how it sounds but for some reason I find it modern sounding:

I wonder if it's because I've listened to it a lot or if it does sound modern indeed.

That entire album is pretty damn good
>>60996598
it is, but it sounds "modern" to me
with the OP's song, I wouldn't be able to tell it's not from the 80s if I didn't know it. It's like they managed to isolate themselves from anything produced post 1990 to make that song. It's fucking amazing.

I agree completely, more just saying anyone who hasn't checked the full thing out yet should definitely give it a chance
>mfw japs used to use synths and drum machines until the 90s thinking they could be pass as the "real thing"

Synthetic sounds are great if you want to sound synthetic, but I tend to think it was often used as a substitute and not for its own qualities.

Freeweights are one of the most solid retrowave bands when it comes to sounding like you travelled in time from the '80s.

do you know what's the show with the car? I'm genuinely interested
you might dig my friend's band, they're 80's geeks

their 1st track is pretty carpenterish/cyberpunkish, I'm digging it. They are not what I was looking for when I made the OP (judging for the first track) but I'm liking their music a lot. Thanks anon!
>>60996375
Why'd they leave?
>>60998918
I'm the anon that you asked but I know as much as you do, I knew them today after >>60996178 posted about them. It wouldn't surprise me if they left for personal reasons though.

nice trips. checking
