FLAC sounds better and is more convenient overall. Digital virtual turntables exist and are both more accurate and versatile than vinyl turntables. Is there some sort of fetishization of outdated technology at play?

I like vinyl for multiple reasons. I have great memories of my grandfather and I playing records on his turntable. He said his collection was my collection. I had a lot of fun listening to the Beach Boys with him.
I also like to support an artist while getting something tangible in return.
I like the warm sound of vinyls.
I like analog.
It helps me get through an album. If a track starts out bad I'll be more likely to skip it. I can't do that on vinyl.

CDs are more accurate, vinyls aren't the end all be all of music format, they're fetishized for the same reason as tube amps and other analog equipment, they sound "warmer" and they look cool. They're not special.

Vinyls have the sound imprinted, along with physical impurities. Vinyls also wear down and are sensitive to shit touching it or damaging it. It takes far less money to produce a CD. It costs far less money to buy a CD. CDs can potentially hold the length of thousands of LPs. LPs should be used like clay disks in a hunting range.
