I agree about Orphans, I think people just see the number of songs without thinking of quality.

I'd say Orphans is essential for sure. Same goes for Mule. Maybe Heart of Saturday Night, Black Rider or Blood Money all are great.

If you love Bone Machine and haven't heard Black Rider do it now. It Runs harder than Bone Machine, probably Waits' "heaviest" album

All these people suggesting black rider! Im a huge tom waits fan, and id always dismissed black rider, I listened to it twice then just sort of set it aside.. then a couple of weeks ago, i heard "november"on the radio, and I was floored by it, its so amazing.. so I gave black rider another chance, and lo and behold, ive grown into it! so be patient with it if you decide to go with the black rider..

as for others, anything after swordfish youll probably enjoy, I would recommend getting either real gone or blood money next..

yeah, at first i thought Black rider was a through away album. I thought Just the Right bullets was a comedic track, it just seemed too bizarre coming from Swordfish. But the delivery on each song is probably the strongest. Lucky Day is probably the best delivered song i've heard
