I can very well assure that I am not so easily definable as to be referred to as 'that one person' so please refrain from petty and presumptive cliches.
Firstly, you must recognise that genius is an extraordinary phenomenon which is exceptionally rare. Some could even dispute the existence of it since its a difficult topic.
So far in hip hop, the closest thing is terms of objective brilliance was the debut album of Nas, however, the genre is far too young for any exceptional genius. The music can all be traced back.
Genius shouldn't be tossed around on a whim so hastily, it stifles the importance of the word.
If you look at one of the names on my earlier list(not an exhaustively collected list, I admit), then you will see the name of Bob Dylan.
He deserves place for he completely defied the bounderies of songwriting in general. His songwriting transcended the general conventional bounderies of genre. I don't say 'Dylan reinvented whatever genre'' I say he reinvented the concept of songwriting entirely.His genius was worldwide and what he changed could be applied into any musical context.
Stravinsky changed the concepts of rhythm,harmony and melody and especially how they worked in an orchestral setting. his music was far from the melodic pleasing Tchaikovsky, Stravinsky would go on to influence Avant Garde music up to the present date, he was the last great classical composer before Jazz,Rock and Hip Hop changed and morphed into what we call popular music.
