ITT: Albums that literally no one hates. Like, albums that might be able to actually be called objectively good. Even people who aren't hip-hop fans generally acknowledge this album's greatness. I've never talked to someone who didn't like it.

I will never understand the appeal of jazz, especially the really high rated stuff, like what am I supposed to feel
Like that one album where the guy can't play piano is hilarious because of the elitism associated with this shit, why does it exist, it's so silly, it's like dream theater fans, like wow, they can play an instrument, what am I supposed to feel

>>60957914
This is the dumbest thing I've read the entire fucking day. Congrats.
Zepplin IV.
The Wall.
you do realize anyone can post a shit album ITT and if you say you don't like it people will call you faggot right
hell of a scenario you've set up here
>>60957625
even my dad likes this album.
>>60958018
I'd say Zeppelin II also but I've seen more universal praise for IV
Also, The Wall?
>>60957991
oh look, I'm Humphrey FUCKING Bogart, why'd she come in my bar man, play it again sammy, Alan Ginsberg is my idol, I wanna go to Tangiers and smoke opium for the rest of my life, ohh look at me, I can play jazz, Berets, turtlenecks and black sunglasses are the only fashion, Miles Davis was so misunderstood, he's a true innovator, Bitches Brew for life, all white people do is shill off my brothers man, They don't pass the ball, they don't play defense and I'm pretty sure I saw five steps on the way up to the layup
>>60958071
Pink Floyd.
And yeah. I'm not actually a huge fan. I think The Final Cut is the best Floyd album.
While I'm proving my mullet credentials, Limp Bizkit Significant Other.
>>60958071
To clarify, I know what The Wall is obviously, I just don't think I'd choose that album at all.
>>60958044
Welcome to /mu/
Say what you want about this album being a meme, I've never met a single person who actually doesn't enjoy it.
>>60957752
>>60958135
I agree on those
>>60957625

It's a boring album with decent beats and okay rapping, I don't hate, it's just okay
>>60958135
everyone enjoys the first track, i don't know about the rest of the album lol
>>60958445

>>60958445
I know plenty of people why dislike ODB's delivery, that he sounds too much like an asylum inmate
>>60958536
*why=who
Never heard a bad word about this.
Probably because this is the kind of stuff people expect when they listen to 'tribal' music.

>>60958018
Congrats, you've picked two albums that I hate with a passion.
Led Zepellin fucking suck, the vocals are whiny, the guitars are subpar, and they try too hard to be edgy.
The Wall isn't music, it's a field recording of someone masturbating.
>>60957954
Why would anyone genuinely approve this album when VCN is basically a much better version of it
>>60958585
>The Wall isn't music, it's a field recording of someone masturbating.
I agree it's not Pink Floyd's best, but have you even heard it?

>>60958582
I don't dislike Jazz for want of trying, asshole
I have independently formed the opinion that what these people do is effectively the same as dream theater.
Complex musicianship does not equal good
Jazz in and of itself is a fucking relic, if it's not fused with other genres (like rock, rap or fucking grindcore who knew) it's rally fucking boring
You can call me a pleb and i can rise above it, because I am a responsible, adult, straight white male, and I don't need no (wo)man

Caught in the grip of the city, madness
Great album
what /mu/ considers sage's third best album
Apart from "it looks like a shirt" and "it's edgy", I haven't seen anybody give an outright criticism of this album.
>>60958784
This and Nujabes got me into hip-hop. Terrific stuff.
>>60958800
It's boring, the main vocalist sounds gay as hell, the instrumentation sucks, it's boring, the compositions lack any substance, the songs are all underbaked, it's boring, it puts me to sleep, and oh yeah, it's boring as fuck.
>>60958710
curses, i have been beaten by reason
except I haven't Beatles is a relic, but it's still listenable, and the musicianship isn't made for mr self-important intelligentsia. a heap of literature doesn't have this problem, like if you were to give a layman a modern translation of the Shakespeare version of Macbeth, they'd enjoy it, but if you showed them Kind of Blue, they'd be like, this is shite m8, wot are u doin
Jazz music isn't fun anymore, and when it isn't trying to be fun it evokes outdated moods, who instantly thinks of jazz when they think of the soundtrack of this generation?
and that's the problem I have, you can act like you're superior to me for your media consumption, but I'll just think that you're a butthole and then go back to having fun or being a shitlord
this is your brain of postmodernism
>>60958815
nah desu
>>60958600
>>60958616
Yes I have spergs, it's Roger Waters whining about his dead dad and using the Wall as some 2quirky4u metaphorical bullshit about Pink's social isolation. Subpar concept and the execution rims nigger ass.
>>60958603
No, I'm stating my own subjective opinion in a straightforward and blunt manner. Is that now considered edgy here?
>>60958695
If you browse Tumblr and believe that feminism is still relevant in a first world society, maybe.

>>60958061

>>60958677
>>Jazz in and of itself is a fucking relic, if it's not fused with other genres (like rock, rap or fucking grindcore who knew) it's rally fucking boring
holy shit I don't even know where to begin with this
every "innovation" in popular music was done in jazz (or classical, or avant-garde) first. if you don't like jazz you might as well not like music in general.
It ain't hard to tell, I excel then prevail
The mic is contacted, I attract clientele
My mic check is life or death, breathing a sniper's breath
I exhale the yellow smoke of buddha through righteous steps
Deep like the Shining, sparkle like a diamond
Sneak a Uzi on the island in my army jacket lining
Hit the Earth like a comet – invasion!
Nas is like the Afrocentric Asian, half-man, half-amazing
Cause in my physical, I can express through song
Delete stress like Motrin, then extend strong
I drink Moet with Medusa, give her shotguns in hell
From the spliff that I lift and inhale, it ain't hard to tell
The buddha monk's in your trunk, turn the bass up
Not stories by Aesop, place your loot up, parties I shoot up
Nas, I analyze, drop a jewel, inhale from the L
School a fool well, you feel it like Braille, it ain't hard to tell
I kick a skill like Shaquille holds a pill
Vocabulary spills I'm Ill plus Matic
I freak beats, slam it like Iron Sheik
Jam like a Tec with correct techniques
So analyze me, surprise me, but can't magmatize me
Scannin' while you're plannin' ways to sabotage me
I leave 'em froze like her-on in your nose
Nas'll rock well, it ain't hard to tell
This rhythmatic explosion is what your frame of mind has chosen
I'll leave your brain stimulated, niggas is frozen
Speak with criminal slang, begin like a violin
End like Leviathan, it's deep, well let me try again
Wisdom be leaking out my grapefruit, troop
I dominate break loops, giving mics men-e-strual cycles
Street's disciple, I rock beats that's mega trifle
And groove even smoother than moves by Villanova
You're still a soldier, I'm like Sly Stone in Cobra
Packing like a Rasta in the weed spot, vocals'll squeeze Glocks
MC's eavesdrop though they need not to sneak
My poetry's deep, I never fail
Nas' raps should be locked in a cell, it ain't hard to tell
>how can you deny the skill of this lyricism/delivery

If you're going with El-P why would you pick this album? I mean, over C4C, RTJ an arguably RTJ2 due to El-P shackling himself sure. But over Funcrusher Plus and Fantastic Damage?
>>60959699
Amazing beat as well, and it's not even the best song on the album
>>60957914
Guess I'm not the only one who shares the same thoughts on jazz.
>>60960113
The World is Yours is pretty GOAT, probably got the best beat at least.
>>60957914

>>60958135
literally elevator music
>>60957936
Not him, but I think I get it. It's like, yeah all the classic jazz musicians like Davis and Coltrane are very good at playing their instruments, but there's not much beyond that. Admittedly, all I've listened to as far as proper jazz goes is Kind of Blue and Bitches Brew, but when I did listen to those I was thinking to myself "ok... now what" like yes, they're good on a technical level, but I just wasn't feeling anything in response to it, if that makes sense.

>>60958677
Except jazz is not about musicianship
Musicianship in jazz is hailed because it allows you to make more jazz or to make jazz that has been unheard until now, that's why people celebrate the virtuosity of parker
Now if you listen to kind of blue, which is one of the most acclaimed and entry-level jazz album, you'll notice that while the musicians are extremely skilled, none are splattering its own virtuosity all over the record.
An important part of miles davis carrer has been exactly the reverse of what you're talking about, leading jazz in non-virtuous ways, as opposed to the virtuosity of bebop ( don't get me wrong he's still an impressive musician )
>>60958695
Huh
I kind of hate it t b h
