Lately I've been starting to get into country/Americana type music after a lifetime of never hearing any of it. Let's a get a country that isn't trash thread going.

we're all aware that traditional country is decent, now here's the real challenge: can /mu/ name some contemporary/pop-influenced country that's good?
i mean there's so fucking much of it, there has to be some good stuff somewhere right?

Yesterday I saw someone post some kind of electronic country thing. I wouldn't say it was good, but it was kind of interesting, so I guess its a step forward.
Country's been stagnant for so long that something has to be about to happen. I can see alt-country blowing up in the next few years

My Morning Jacket is good but it's not pop

I honestly think that some alt country is more sincere than mainstream country at this point. Just listen to Jesse Sykes; she doesn't have the twang, but she has the instrumentation, and combined with her unique voice, it sounds as warm to me as some of Johnny Cash's stuff. It's not perfect, but it easily has more of that Americana heart than anything you're liable to hear on CMT.
