I really hope so, I'm ready for cringe-core to be popular again.

How about no shitty revival so no genres get shit on by being made "more accessible" and subsequently have the artistry removed? Maybe something "reviving" is actually the last nail in the coffin?
>>
>>60942828
True. Cant replicate the past.
>>
>>60942828
Retro Metal revival was fun and so was Synthwave.
But I agree with you, these are mostly creative dead ends.
>>
>>60942828
Reminder that Rock music has reached the point where true innovation is near impossible. You literally can't do anything new because it has already been done. There is no new sound to be heard in rock, every possible rock sound has been made. Rock music will not reach mass popularity ever again. EDM is here to stay for a while now.
>>
>>60942780
It litterly killed itself. Do you really want it back just so it can kill itself again?

Calm down there Marilyn Manson, Rock isn't dead.
>>
Is Rage against the machine considered Nu-metal anymore? people are calling bands like SOAD nu-metal, but they are nothing alike.
>>
>>60943344

I hate to admit it but it's kinda true.

Rock is deader than dead. Shock is all in your head. Your sex and your dope is all that were fed. So fuck all your protests and put them to bed.
>>
dope ass avant garde new metal
>>
>>60943344
Only retards think this.

Just because you lack creativity doesn't mean other people do.
>>
>>60943768

i don't think ratm were ever nu metal, they were plain rap metal
>>
>>60942675
>>60942780
How about something actually new and interesting instead of reviving old shit.

>>60942828
this to be honest
>>
>>60942675
How about no metal
>>
>>60942688
man that song is perfect
>>
Fuck that, Industrial Rock revival must happen
>>
>>60943344
Japan has a very, very interesting, layered approach to rock music. No band has ever tried it in the west, it'd be interesting to see someone do it. Although I reckon it'd flop horribly.
>>
>>60946579

Recs for good Japanese rock?
>>
fred said stampede would be released in 2015

quit being a nigger, fred
>>
>>60946643
It's pretty hard to find, since even in Japan our western ways of doing pop and rock are pretty embedded and I'm by no means an expert but a few bands that have that sound would be Flow, L'arc en Ciel, Access, Orange Range and -to a lesser extent- Girugamesh. It's not experimental to any extent, it's just a different approach to pop music that makes up for arrangements you never hear over here, but still very mainstream sounding.
>>
I'm ready for a new jack swing revival.
>>
>>60946816
Wrong

but aesthetically grunge has been back for like two years now. the grunge style is very popular with qts (though "soft grunge" is dumb). it's just musically it never came back.
>>

>>
Nobody is ready for nu-djent. Be afraid.

I honestly hope not, we've been having a vaporwave 90s 80s thing going on for a while I hope that we just continue on to more cyberpunk futurist stuff
>>
>>60942675
that can't be good
>>
>>60942828

Post-punk revival is actually really good.
>>
>>60946856
Listen here, he isn't wrong. L'arc en Ciel is very successful in Japan. Dir en Grey if he likes metal and dark sounding music. And a must rec, X Japan. He could also listen to Versailles Holy Grail album.
>>
>>60942712
SOAD will never come back dude...
>>
>>60946643
blue hearts
>>
>>60942712
Hope they never come back. I don't think I ever heard anything so fucking stupid since I heard that their screaming, squawking frontman was given some award for musical greatness or something. Why? Because he made "oblique" and "dadaist" lyrics that were actually just word vomit made to appeal to Nirvana fans? Well, fuck, line me up some cocaine and give me some weed, leave me to watch some left-wing political documentaries, and stick me in front of a microphone with some backing teenage musicians from the local bro00tal metal scene to chug along with, and I can earn an award for musical greatness too!
>>
I DID IT ALL FOR THE NOOKIE
>>
>>60942675
We've already got shit like this getting popular on the radio
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=znvAJ5d_7ZM
and it's basically djent, which is basically nu metal with an even more pussy vocalist, more "progressive/technical" music, and "philosophical" lyrics. We're already experiencing nu metal's reincarnation becoming mainstream. What could be worse? Will nu metal-inspired deathcore like Chelsea Grin start becoming radio material, getting played everyfuckingwhere we look? Will it become the new hip thing to play? God, I hope not.
>>
looking forward

Did nobody in nu-metal ever ask themselves "What the fuck am I doing with my life?"

Or did they think it was real shit?
