Yeah they edge out Anthrax, who's new songs are good but have that slick modern radio rock gloss. Also they've slowed down the speed, especially on their new songs.

Others like KIMB, So Far and Youthanasia are inconsistent and not *that* great, there's a bunch of mediocre albums and then there's just trash albums like Risk & Super Collider.
Metallica is definitely the most consistent big 4 band. They only have one objectively bad album (St. Anger - 2 if you count Lulu), two average-good (Reload & Death Magnetic) and the rest are excellent.
Testament is actually pretty consistent. Souls of Black is trash though.
