You know that feeling when you're in the third quarter of an album and everything is just so boring? The first half of the album was spectacular, and you know that a great track has been strategically placed towards the end, but at this point nothing interesting is happening. All the effort was put into a solid A-side and everything else was permitted to be mediocre. The Star Wars soundtrack and I guess most lengthy classical pieces don't have this problem; the ideas are paced tastefully throughout the piece, and any lulls to be had can be brightened by reprising a nice theme from earlier. Why can't pop/rock albums do this?
