I wouldn't worry about it, it's the case in every genre of music, and even outside of music.
People like us are what I like to think of as hobbyists for music. We enjoy discussing music, collecting, discovering music etc. Most people just see clubbing as a way to socialise with friends, get drunk and try and get laid.
It's a big interest to us, and many people don't see it that way. I have many friends who don't care about the music at all when they go clubbing, and I suppose that's fine for them. Dance music like the kind bleep discusses will always be fairly niche (to an extent, obviously there's some crossover) and it's better for it.
Let the "pards" have their fun, it's not like they're stopping me from enjoying dance music and clubbing.

I think its largely because the US embraced hip hop instead and it took dominance and also, most Americans automatically think of Joel, Sonny and other Ultra/EDC type DJs and thats enough to put anyone off.
In England, after acid house/rave, dance music became the norm, it was used in adverts, political campaigns, films and constant airplay, everyone and their mum knew Fatboy Slim and The Prodigy. Then as turnys generation became controlling parts of advertising companies etc, more old school dance music was used in adverts etc
