I'm not one to defend artists like this, far from it. However it's plain to see that most people only separate the creator from the art to justify their enjoyment of it. Obviously not everyone is like that but I feel like a vast majority are.

The reason those artists get shat on for their views is because their music is so bad or forgettable that there's really nothing else to discuss about them.
Take Billy Corgan, he's an absolute nut, but people discuss his music far more often because unlike grimes and lavren his music has a lot to discuss about it.

Pretty much this. People don't attack the political views of someone they don't like. It's just an easy way to make fun of someone without discussing their music.
Also most left-leaning musicians are in the past or isolated incidents. Like Burzum is a crazy murderer but he isn't a threat to society because he killed one person a long time ago. But an active feminist is more likely to have a real impact on the average /mu/ user more, so their personality matters more.
