Who is the best electropop band and why it's Ladytron?
pretty good
>>60899783
Nah. The Knife - when they were making electropop - were much better.
Sylvan Esso is pretty damn good.
>>60899941
>The Knife - when they were making electropop - were much better.
I actually really like The Knife - their electropop phase. However, they're a very inconsistent band: amazing songs mixed with forgettable and plain shitty ones.
The Knife have:
>Kino, NY Hotel, Heartbeats, Pass This On, Girls' Nights Out, Listen Now, You Take My Breath Away, Got 2 Let U, The Bridge, Silent Shout, Marble House, Neverland, Like a Pen, The Captain, We Share Out Mothers' Health, Forest Families
...but Ladytron have:
>Playgirl, Discotraxx, The Way That I Found You, He Took Her to a Movie, Commodore Rock, Another Breakfast With You, Mu-Tron, Seventeen, Blue Jeans, Evil, True Mathematics, Light & Magic, Destroy Everything You Touch, Beauty*2, High Rise, International Dateline, Soft Power, Sugar, Fighting in Built Up Areas, All the Way..., Weekend, Black Cat, Ghosts, Runaway, Deep Blue, Burning Up, I'm Not Scared, Tomorrow, Ace of Hz, Mirage, Ninety Degrees.

Way easier to say the Ladytron songs I'm not crazy about than to list songs I like by them. Fuck, I hope their new album is here and good soon.
>>60900250
Also, Ladytron have:
Paco!, I'm with the pilots, This is our sound, Ladybird, Jet Age, Skools out,
Flicking your switch, Fire, Turn it on, Cracked LCD, Black plastic, Evil, Startup chime, Nuhorizons, Cease2exist. Re:agents, The reason why
The last one standing, whitelightgenerator
Season of illusions, Predict the day, Versus
White elephant, White gold, Moon palace, Ambulances

>Way easier to say the Ladytron songs I'm not crazy about than to list songs I like by them.
Same. Also even their weakest song is still enjoyable.
>Fuck, I hope their new album is here and good soon.
I bet it will be out in the second half of 2016.
>>60901048
100% agree. Almost their entire discography is top notch. I can't think of a more underrated band than them.
>>60899783
nope
>>60901125
Hot Chip are very good, but quite on the same level as Ladytron. One Pure Thought is my fave song of them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMaexIRBq8o
I like Marnie's solo songs so far, but wish they had a new album this year

>>60902473
Same. It's time for a new album.

>forgetting about the masterpiece https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EfooF94TQ0Y
>>60902655
Tbh I didn't give too many chances to their final album Shaking the Habitual. I remember that I was very disappointed by it.
>>60902692
It's way 3deep5u privilege checking artsy crap, but their ability to write really good and catchy pop songs still shine through every now and then.
>>60902796
>way 3deep5u privilege checking artsy crap
You misunderstood their artistry. They never clamied to be more than they actually are and they rarely seemed pretentious. They also started from zero, with very little support from media.
>>60902964
>rarely seemed pretentious
>live shows after latest album required that male part of the public can go only as high as 50% of the total people mass because muh equality
Yeah, not pretentious at all.
ummm

>live shows after latest album required that male part of the public can go only as high as 50% of the total people mass because muh equality
Here did you hear such ridiculous thing?
Muh equality is only about them as a band:
>perfectly balanced act: 2 female, 2 male
>everyone contributes to songwriting
>everyone plays synths
>everyone is a down to earth person
Ladytron kind of sounds like if Enya was in a band (in a good way)
>>60904207
I get what you mean. Their vocalist Helen Marnie has that haunting voice: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSaiewifTGA
>>60904297
The actual video for that song is beautiful even though there are flying jellyfish looking things
>>60904880
Those flying jellyfish looking things kind of fit the concept of the song and video: https://vimeo.com/8021096
>>60905156
Yeah, cool video. Are they suppose to be some aliens or something though?
Cut Copy
im a girl by the way :)
>>60905194
I guess not. Just some jellyfish looking things that float in the air instead of water. Aesthetic purpose.
>>60905220
Nice. I like this band too. Lights and Music was the first tune I've heard from them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8R1X2TxW5Rk
who /iamamiwhoami/ here?
>>60906439
They're interesting.
>>60906439
bounty (9) > kin (8.5) > blue (7)
visually they got pretty bad tho
Goldfrapp
>>60903159
this t b h
>>60907677
Actual correct answer.
>>60907677
>>60908034
Goldfrapp are awesome, but half of their albums aren't electropop. Ladytron win because they mixed electropop with dreampop, new wave, industrial rock, post-punk, with amazing results. As much as I like Goldfrapp they don't have a song like Blue Jeans: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJ_WXoeRXJg
Good band
>>60899783
they are qties tbe
>>60899783
I listened to Ladytron a bit early in highschool. Their brand of electropop isn't anything unique however.
>>60909461
>Their brand of electropop isn't anything unique however.
I think it is. Not only unique but also instantly recognizable. There aren't simply bands like them that go from a song like this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s6jaYJx7yeI
to this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VvK_AY5gfeY
to this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LqPuYuVgMks
to this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ui7CSs6hInw
to this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yeAugTX0dEg
All these different styles in one band? No way. If you know another band like that, just mention it.
>>60909461
Who else is like 'em?
Witching Hour > 604 > Velocifero > Light & Magic > Gravity the Seducer.
who's marnie married to?
>>60910612
Nah. I think 604= Light & Magic = Witching Hour >Velocifero > Gravity the Seducer
>>60910624
Someone named Nic.
>>60910669
Their first 4 albums are pretty equal IMO. Gravity the Seducer remains their most underrated album and that because it's quite different and because the other ones are so damn great. One of the few bands that I enjoy listening to literally every song of them.
I can't wait for her new album.
>>60910789
Mira oughta make a solo album too
