i fell in love with this mixtape on the very first listen. i just wish it was more artsy desu. seems like all jonathan cares about doing is making catchy music with every song having a focus on technical lyricism. i mean it SOUNDS good its just a really unoriginal album. sounds like everything else in bandcamp.
i've never listened to an album hyped by Pitchfork or Stereogum because i find their narrow, image-obsessed approach to music to be a burden on the artform as a whole that will probably ultimately prove to have put serious music criticism in a historical rut. i enjoy having longform discussion about a wide range of genres, and i don't just mean subgenres of "indie" variants of rock, hip hop, and electronic popular music.
