How is this music? What kind of tryhard listens to this 'art'?
>>
8/10 fap material senpai
>>
It isn't necessarily music; it is sound art/collage.

And unless you think transgressive art can meaningful, and isn't just for the edge, nobody can make you appreciate it.

>>60886800
Steve Albini's best production job imo
>>

>>60886812

>>60886847

>>
>>60886800
>What kind of tryhard listens to this 'art'?

apparently you just did, tryhard
>>
>>60886800
It's not music, and never claimed to be music.
>What kind of tryhard listens to this 'art'?
You, OP. Or did you not listen to it?
>>
>>60886915
he probably listened to it based solely on the album cover thinking
>wow i'll definitely be able to pick up qties if i listen to something with this stylish of a cover

what a tryhard s m h
>>
>>60886865
>thats literally what it was made for
Not true btw. Buyer's Market is mainly a critique of how crime victims are portrayed in the mass media via soundbytes.

>tfw English is not my native language
>tfw I can easily ignore what the victims are saying and just have the whole album as background noise
>>
Anymore albums like this?

Asking for a friend btw

And of course, there's Whitehouse.

>>60886999
Boyd Rice.
For the edgelord we all deserve to be.
>>
>>60886800
who said it was music you fucking retard? we all know it isn't, you don't have to make a thread about it like you just discovered fire
>>
>>60887160
Woah there hombre! Why so mad? I'm just wondering why people here think it's music.
>>
>>60887160
the human voice could be considered a musical instrument, so why can't spoken word recordings be music?
>>
>>60886800
not music, not even noise music, just interviews with an album cover
>>
>>60886989
>>60886865
ok guys whats the real deal here? critique of dehumanizing news media, or edgelord-tier fap material? i've heard people say both the last few days. is the answer somewhere in between?
>>
>>60887534
Up to you desu
depends on the mood for me ;)
>>
>>60887534
As with everything Sotos, the line is blurred, but for a reason. You can get that much more of a response out of the listener if you purposefully choose not to make such a distinction.
>>
>>60886864
>production
yeah just slap a few pre-recorded interviews together
>>
>>60887610
you can get a response out of me when you read a quote of him calling it a masturbatory aid

this is the only time i've been offended by a work of art in my life, it is purely disgusting
>>
It's about the Daycare abuse scandals in the 80s and how the media abuses the victims and indirectly glamorizes the criminals. Sotos thinks that the way the media jumps on every sexual abuse and serial killing case abuses the victims and also serves as pornographic material for offenders themselves. If you notice, the children are forced to very explicitly recount the horrors that occurred to them, all for the world to enjoy through television. Basically, the album is supposed to expose our obsession with sex crimes and our desire to see all the dirty little details of what happened, not unlike a child predator.

Sotos also made a magazine during the time called "Pure" which used newsclippings from serial killer and rape reports and praised them from the view of the offenders.
