Where does HCTI rank among the other releases from AnCo? It's probably my third favorite.
Predictions on the upcoming album?
HCTI is my favorite. I have yet to listen to STGSTV, but it seems like their peak for that time period. Not entirely sure what to guess of the new album yet, but I like the name and the single.
Do any of you like Danse Manatee or Hollinndagain? I've listened to their discography backwards very slowly, and was amazed by how unfairly the backlash presents them. I've only seen one positive comment towards Danse, but I love the album. What gives?

To make it more clear. Top two are STGSTV and Sung Tongs, with HCTI and other two being pretty close third, with HCTI just getting the edge at no. 3.

I HCTI is in Great-Tier for me for Anco albums. its easily the most memorable and well organized of their more abstract, off-the-wall work (pre-Sung Tongs) imo. Its not as good as something like Sung Tongs or MPP, but it still up their with SJ and Feels. It is their least flawed album from that time period.

HCTI is definitely one of my favorites from them, but I like everything they've ever done equally.
I'm super stoked for PW, the snippets of Lying in the Grass, The Burglars, Hocus Pocus, On Delay, Recycling, and Natural Selection all sound amazing. I'm not even bothered that the Boys Latin-esque vocal technique is used on 4 of the tracks on this album. Especially Colin Stetson's trademark schizophrenic arpeggios on Floridada has me hyped further, I hope he lays down some deep drones underneath the colorful mayhem that the AC boys are doing.
I predict PW will be held up to the same regard as Feels, MPP, and SJ.

I think it's their best of their early work, but I think the big four are the most balanced when it comes to songwriting and experimentation. I would take anything from ST-MPP over it, but I definitely value it.

I almost feel bad ranking them like that though since they're all so good. To put it in perspective CHz is still probably a solid 8 for me.

the sounds it makes probably arent so well-honed but the thing put me on like a spiritual journey, super intense if you get into it
my one gripe is that its too stupidly anticlimactic for what id say is otherwise their best sequenced/structured release, referring to the second to last but especially the last track
it also made me want to listen to some other lower rated ac-related releases (again), like down there or crack box. gotta say i didnt like cs tho, its not doing anything any, say, american primitivism act didnt do better, or stuff like hala strana, does it?

A lot of Sung Tongs has a very similar feel to that song, with stretched out acoustic guitars and the sorts.
It can be a tough listen at first but you should like the Softest Voice and maybe even Leaf House?
