Looking for a portable turntable with built-in speakers for a gift in Christmas, so it shouldn't be too expensive but still somewhat decent. Is the Ion Audio Vinyl Motion a good choice?
crosley. make sure to buy the special edition that comes with a gun to shoot yourself with

Well, I made this thread in part because I've heard that the Ion ones are far better that the absolute crap Crosley makes.

Does the person you're buying this gift for absolutely need portability?
If they do, vinyl isn't for them. If not, maybe find a nice vintage table (which would be a in a similar price range) and get them properly started on the hobby.

They literally use the same Chinese crap.

Wow, that's pathetic.
>>60856314
In this situation I believe the portable tables would be best since it's for someone who's just giving first steps on vinyl and also who doesn't have much space for a fixed table with a complete set of speakers.

Unfortunately, there just aren't any good portable turntables (to my knowledge) that won't damage records/sound bad.

To be honest, I think it won't be used that extensively so that's why I wanted to keep it under $100. as for the sound I'm pretty sure the built-in speakers won't be that great but headphones or some small external speakers are always a possibility. Thanks for your insight!
The vibration from the shit quality speakers will shake the platter. Plus all those portable players use poor quality cartridges that you can't replace and the tracking on the tonearm can't be adjusted. If the person doesn't have room for a proper setup get them a turntable with an amp built in like the lp60 and tell them to use headphones. The lp60 has a better low end cartridge and the tonearm preset tracking is good enough for most records so it is perfect for beginners.
