I think albums 1 and 3 are solid all the way through, but 2 and 4 have very clear highlights and then stuff that's a chore to sit through.
I also think both his fanbase and the guy himself seem to misunderstand his strength as a songwriter. It's his sense of melody that keeps me coming back to his work, not the classic prog worship (although he did pull that off really well on Raven, even then the highlights were the 2 simplest songs - title track and Drive Home)
I wish he'd just go full pop a la Stupid Dream. Or if he insists on being 'interesting' then delve more into Insurgentes style stuff, that album was fucking awesome.
