Not that poster, but the reason a lot of critics didn't/don't take it seriously is probably because most house and techno stuff was/is absolute garbage and the minimum requirement for it to be played anywhere is that it's danceable. As far as the racism and homophobia stuff goes you are correct though.
It just went a different way. Disco, hip hop and house music were all created here, but after that artists here focused more on rnb, rap etc.
