yes
no as long it isn't "problematic" lyrics you can say whatever you want
>>60798810
Define "matter"
Probably no
I like Bieber's verse in Maria I'm Drunk

if this album had better content it wouldve been a 9 or 10. but lyrics did actually make it weaker even though the songs were good.
>>60798856
>all the money all the hos, all the alcohol
>all these hundreds all these thousands Ima spend it all
Implying this is not top tier content
>>60798792
Not at all.
aoty for me actually guise no troll
>>60798792
yes, it makes the music more interesting. better lyrics doesnt necesarily mean better content within the lyrics, it could also just sound cool (like chance)
>>60798853
Well suck cock and choke on it you dirty bitch!
>>60798792
also its completely different for rap. what do rappers have to do other than write their lyrics? if their lyrics are shitty, what part of their music do they put effort into?

Life is matter.
rap is more of an alt poetry thing

That one bar of beat and a small melody they repeat over and over again.
>>60798792
lyrics are situational for me
as long as the lyrics aren't retarded to the point of them being problematic, I usually dont have an issue.
i can appreciate an album with good lyrics though, and i love abstract imagery in lyrics

If you go to foreign countries the kids still love US/UK pop music even though they have no idea what they're singing about
Therefore the only thing that matters is marketing
No, but vocals can be nice though.

Lyrics are one of the least important parts in music, bad lyrics can still make a song cringy though like "I keep it 300 like the Romans" or ""eatin Asian pussy all I need was sweet and sour sauce"
Rap is so lyric-centric that I feel bad lyrics DO matter in the case of hip-hop compared to other genres where lyrics aren't really ever the focus, like heavy shoegaze.
no one ITT can tell bad lyrics from good lyrics anyway
You just think that repetition is always bad, and vaguely remember being told that Aesop Rock doesn't repeat enough. Reading this thread was pointless
