This. MPP is where Avey and Panda really got down their harmonizing together. It really was the album where the Beach Boys comparisons REALLY started pouring in.

I hear more Debussy influences than Beach Boys influences here to be honest. Actually, the thing that strikes me when I listen to it really isn't whether or not it sounds like the Beach Boys but how beautiful it is. And I think the "Beach Boys influence" label gets thrown around way too much. I think the Beach Boys are actually kind of overrated to be honest.

You need to really explore alot of Brian Wilson's work to see the influences, but once you do it's pretty obvious. There are multiple songs on SMiLE that could actually pass as AnCo songs

Guys Eyes is a really obvious Beach Boys nod

I don't get it

I am familiar with their work, and Pet Sounds and SMiLE are two of my favorite albums. I just don't think that everything that sounds lush and melodic was directly influenced by Brian Wilson.

I like the Beach Boys too. They're still overrated, though. You can't use vibes on a song now without them getting the credit.
