How big is your library (in terms of file size)? How many songs, artists, and albums do you have?

Plen here, my library is 45GB, 1848 songs, 140 albums, and 76 artists.

I've got 3 terabytes of 60's pre-ambient

800 gigs of live recordings of this local band called the fuckerfucks. They played only 2 shows before breaking up but I had 11 redundant recording rigs all recording flac which I then layered over one another for 25,000 kbps bitrate.

8 terabytes of the beatles. No not THOSE beatles, the new beatles. They haven't recorded an album yet and technically they're not really a band yet but they're indie-gospel-post-funk-punk style is going to be huge when you guys hear their stuff in about 5 years.

4 petabytes of the Ethiopian Free Jazz wave that occurred in 1973 in a town called Wenji Gefersi.

18 terabytes of sound check recordings from the mid 90's band LFO. They only scored a hit with "I like girls (who wear abercrombie and fitch)" but they were way ahead of their time.

That's just my C: drive. I have 41 drives.

Not on my PC now, but I have somewhere between 4500 and 5000 tracks, total size is in the 40-50GB range. Mostly 320CBR, with the lowest being 192 (like 1-5% of my music), and most of my classical music and "audiophile" albums (e.g. Aja) in FLAC. I am proud of the fact that there is no "filler" content, meaning no unlistened tracks and all the music there is stuff I'd listen to.

Could be a bit better but I'm happy so far. Got a few albums that I've still to sort.

>no unlistened tracks
So you delete tracks from albums if you don't like/listen to them? Lame.

My policy is "no unlistened albums".

Mine had 60gb or so, still a lot of music i dont have

Please explain yourself, Baiting Contrarian.

Right now, it's:
192GB, 1507 artists, 2141 albums, 22262 songs
Give or take about 20 on the artists though, I've got a few vidya soundtracks floating around that aren't properly tagged.
>>
>>60777034
>Why have music you dont like tho
I don't. If I hear something I really don't like on first listen. I'll give it another try at a different time before deleting if, if I still don't like it.

formatted my hdd in the summer, had 250gb then.
currently have only 78.35gb, 9628 songs, 816 albums, 26.7 days

i've listened to all but my current backlog of ~20 albums, and the lowest i'd rate an album i have is probs a 6
>>60776975
>>60777069
so what is the average rating of all those albums? how much do you actually listen to? whats the point of having brokencyde? why is there so much pleb shit??

>>60777016
Yeah it's a personal choice. I put my library on shuffle a lot so I prefer not endlessly skipping tracks, but I'd say I keep most albums entirely. Like it'll take a lot to make me delete a track (e.g. I kept True Affection from I Love You Honeybear... *shudder*). But I do understand keeping albums in their entirety as respect to the work of art. Maybe I'll reconsider one day
>>
>>60777143
First of all, I don't rate albums. I don't see the point. I have listened to everything in that library. Some of it not recently I'll admit, but it's there when I do choose to listen. I have brokencyde and 'pleb shit' because I enjoy it from time to time. Not everybody on /mu/ is a painfully cool poser type. It's possible to enjoy Ornette Coleman and Justin Bieber without sacrificing any part of yourself.

yeh bruh
I used to delete tracks i didn't like as a teen because I would shuffle alot. Eventually I realised that when I left tracks in they tended to grow on me as I listened to the album more. Made it a pain to find and rectify those albums where I had deleted songs, because I couldn't remember which they were.

680GB, 24645 tracks, 2266 albums organized and around a TB unsorted.

You download all that yourself? What are your sources?
>>
>>60777270
I'll definitely keep that in mind going forward. There's definitely a different joy in listening to an album start to finish compared to individual tracks, and with most respectable artists each track is at least attempting to add something to the whole. Cheers

Yeah most of it. The bulk of it is from WCD and the rest are from DJ friends, other archivers, Bandcamp and a back up of a dead tracker.

Looking at the picture you posted it looks like you have achieved the incredible feat of having metric fucktons of music none of which good. I didn't even know it was possible to have listened to so much music and still have a taste more generic than dollar store brand potato chips.

theres some shit artists and some great artists in there. Bound to happen with a library so big.

He doesn't have to listen to the shitty stuff and what's wrong with having it?

I've always like having friends with massive HD's full of movies so I can just take them to watch and ask their recommendations. They have always seen a lot, by pure virtue of having a lot, and its cool to just blindly pick at times.

I would say a music library would have those benefits and more. When his m8's come over you can be damn sure there's something they are into on there. would just be a fun thing to have.
>>
>>60777209
I dont get it, like how is it possible to have such bad taste after apparently listening to 1000gigs of music. You'd expect after this kind of exposure anyone would eventually get bored and gravitate to expand beyond the absolute entry point of genres and somewhat have a grasp of quality. I'm actually kind of baffled.
>>
Just checked yesterday and I have ~500 albums on my iTunes.

Guy said thats stuff he listened to and is familiar with, nothing wrong with having a big folder but for the purposes you specified with friends and such spotify would work better anyway.
The repulsive part is having so much music all of it either bad or generic, nothing of any interest basically despite having invested so much time in the hobby.

Not including OSTs and live albums/surround versions it's a little more than 400, but I've listened to every single shit here. Not every discography is complete 'cos I'm still listening to it.
