>>
Aww, the black metal babies are mad. That's adorable.
>>
Can someone explain what makes a riff good or bad?
>>
>>60761014
Good riffs are riffs I like. Bad riffs are riffs I hate.
>>
>>60760901
dont do it anon. its just going to ruin everything.
>>
what releases are supposed to come out this year still?
waiting for pic related 2bh
>>
I can't make any chart senpai, but Im listening to Fractal Possession, top notch record.

>Fractal Possession
Abigor is definitely one of my all-time favourite bands, and that album is one of their best.
I'm having quite the Abigor obsession lately
>>
i'm sorry anon but let it die. We need to fix our home not migrate to a new one. We don't want to be like those filthy immigrants don't we?
>>
>>60761116
Since we're on the topic.

What's their best mid-era album? Because I know and cherish their early and recent period but never had any chance to listen to anything past Opus IV
>>
>>60761116
i just got into abigor this last nbbmn and i listened through most of their discography (all full lengths and the imortant looking EPs)
Fractal Possession and Time is the Sulphur... honestly blew my mind but i was pretty disappointed by Leytmotif Luzifer
also whover mixed their albums from like 1997-2001 has no business in a recording studio

Well, making this Top 10 turned out to be more complicated than I thought. I've listened to some really good stuff during NBBMN.
>>
>>60761224
Fractal Possession if that counts, though it's hard to place it in an Era since they didn't really release anything else that sounds like it.
>>
>>60761224
Supreme Immortal Art and the Apocalypse EP are both great, especially the reworked vinyl versions.
stay away from Satanized tho
>>
>>60761275
Eh but form FP and onwards I already listened to.
It's what came before that escapes me, aslo because I've seen mixed opinion.

I might just pick up a random album.

>>60761292
ah ok, I'm going with this
>>
>>60761241
that lychgate album is so good and i am shaking mine heade at whosever telleth me it weren't ain't as gud as die 1nd

Obsequiae a best

Listening to AoVT right now.
This November was the first time I've ever listened to black metal, it's so great finding old and new albums and learning about its history and stuff. I haven't had this much fun with music before and it's great
>>
>>60761330
>learning about its history

it's a quite fascinating history after all.
>>
the new cloak of altering album is kind of neat

>>
Hey guys, could anyone rec some wintry bm? I'm not particularly into satanism/nazism, so its hard for me to relate to a lot of the bm stuff typically posted. I've listened to a lot of the basics so far I think (early Burzum, Paysage D'Hiver, Blut Aus Nord, Agalloch), and some newer stuff as well. Similar dungeon synth/dark ambient too?
>>
>>60761241
spent quite some time making this top 100. but it's great for reference when you don't know what to listen to
>>
>>60761367
sounds like you need some Blashyrkian battle hymns
>>
>>60761367
I recently found a pretty dope dungeon synth label:
https://voldsomtapes.bandcamp.com/

also check out coldworld, nhor, alrakis and sombres forets maybe
>>
>>60761373
nice to see someone else who liked Thier as much (more actually) as i did. have you alse checked out Sun of All Suns?
>>
>>60761367
Have you ever listened to Immortal? They're not "atmo" in the strictest sense of the word, but they're sure as hell wintry.
I can't help you for dungeon synth sorry, I've always stayed away from that stuff.

And Satanism it's all big joke senpai
>>
>>60761429
yeah I love Sun Of All Suns. been waiting for new Amestigon stuff for ages and was instantly hooked on Thier.
now I'm patientlessly waiting for the vinyl releases
>>
>>60761373
thanks, anon
>>
>>60761446
>>60761403
thanks for the immortal recs, I'll check them out. looks good save for some of this cover art...

and well I know plenty of bands sing about satanism, its just not that interesting to me whether or not its a joke. weren't some of the early guys really into it though? I remember varg being dismissive of other people for it

>>60761424
thanks!!

Anything in pic related. Beware, it contains at least a couple things done by nazis.
>>
>>60761519
It also contains some really shitty stuff.
I mean I love most of it but listening to that Anwech album for example was just pure cringe
>>
>>60761519
>>60761549
well I'll try to avoid the nazi and garbage stuff, but the chart is very helpful, thank you

>weren't some of the early guys really into it though?

It's always been a kind of childish thing, well before the "orthodox" trend came along, but even then... it kinda says alot that at a certain point everybody suddendly knew greek and hebrew and claimed that Satan spoke through them and we're all slave to the Lightbringer yadda yadda.
>>
>>60761047
hi :Þ
still doing it?
>>
Abigail Williams is shit.
>>
>>60761598
thanks a bunch. have heard a few wolves in the throne room records before, and enjoyed them enough. i'll check the rest out

>>60761610
yea, makes sense. I guess people wanna do this out there stuff for the image. I guess thats also why some of the groups really want to distance themselves from others

also generally thanks everyone, this is somehow the most civil and helpful thread on mu

so what were your favourites of this year?
It's been awesome so far 2bh.
I mean there wasn't anything groundbreaking, but the overall quality was pretty damn high
>>
>>60761598
>gives cryptofascist recs
>>
>>60761779
>a mere 50% of the recommended music was neo-nazi
>not even a neo-nazi i just like the music
>>
>>60761754
not that much desu, I guess I'm just tired of the "current" trends.
Still
Slaegt - Ildsvanger
Lluvia - Eternidad Solemne
Macabre Omen - Gods Of War - At War
Leviathan - Scar Sighted
Black Cilice - Mysteries

and then a small bunch of splits and demos
>>
>>60761884
yeah seems like our tastes differ alot.
have you checked the new Onirik record yet?
I think you might like it
>>
>>60761988
>Onirik

never heard of it, but the cover art is ridiculous and that's a good starting point.

I might check it out later
>>
>>60761779
>>60761873
which are they?
>>
>>60762103
The first two, but it's not really intense stuff that comes through in their lyrics, more a tendency in the particular subculture they involve themselves with
>>
>>60762165
huh, kinda liked the sound of veil, but it doesn't seem like they make mention of anything liked that? cant find much info on them regardless, more that theyre depressive
>>
>>60762165
>>60762245
nevermind, just found the label's page
>>
>>60762103
i wasn't even counting veil but wodensthrone should clue you in just on the name

also i found this in like 30 seconds:
Like worms they prostate themselves before the great eye
and crawl on their bellies through shards of god.
Emerging in radiant gloom, a cruel mockery of luminescence,
Like the twisted afterglow of a star bound in chains.

Our idols were gifted back to us as the lowest among distortions
For the fools who dip their blades in the cesspools of betrayers
In the name of gods they never had; our godheads, wrenched from grace
To preside o'er the hate of the heard, belighted and broken by tyrant and state

Do not call me brother!
My cause is not your cause!
Your faith was never mine!
And mine will ne'er be yours!

The betrayers who would have us thank them for poisoning the well of our beliefs
And bearing its perverted message as their own, to the funeral of our creed
>>
>>60762517
just run of the mill pagan lyrics
no need to get all witch-hunty about it
>>
>>60762517
Oh, wasn't really interested in Wodensthrone after listening a bit anyways
>>
>>60762517
Wodensthrone aren't facist tho ;-; those lyrics are talking about people relying on God to change the world for them and therefore not making an effort to change the world themselves. The whole album is about social and political upheaval to attain a better world.

sounds more like changing things back to the "olde ways" or whatever which yea, is not necessarily fascist but definitely regressive and shares a quite a bit of fascist and nationalist rhetoric, hence cryptofascist

Sabbat are becoming my favourite Japanese band.
Yes, even more than Sigh
>>
>>60761519
who are the nazi bands in this chart?
>>
>>60763599
all i know for sure is graveland and moloch, lascowiec
Moonblood is questionable
forteresse isn't Nazi per se but white nationalists nonetheless
bergthron is questionable as is celticmoon
