/mu/ I need your help
I've been using Windows Media Player since, well, since I got my first computer. I think it's solid, but everyone makes fun of me when I say I used WMP. So what the fuck am I supposed to use? Foobar looks complicated, Spotify is fucking hideous, Last.fm is garbage...
>What music player should I use and why?
Also, how do I change the album art of an album in WMP? I have Windows 10
Thanks

But why should I use this over WMP?
>>60760662
I`ts way more customizable and looks cooler :^)
>>60760734
Is that the only reason why, though? I usually have WMP playing on my second minotor, and I think it looks just fine.
If no one's gonna help me out, can someone at least tell me how to change the album art of an album in WMP?
>>60760776
Do you mean like change the album art in the mp3 tags?
If so, just download an mp3 tag editor and change it yourself manually
>>60760776
It's easier to pick which al us to play, mine is set up to navigate by folder structure so it goes from genre to subgenre to artist, it's great and not that hard to really set up

>>60760897
>subgenre to artist
what if the artist is multigenre and you want to listen to all their discog at once?
>>60760847
I want to change the album art in WMP. I've been downloading a lot of albums from Bandcamp lately and most of them come out looking like [pic related]. I want to add the album cover that I downloaded with the album, so it shows up in WMP.

I'm a normal person, though, so I organise my music folder by artist, then album.
im on a mac but regardless vlc all day
>>60761045
Can VLC scrobble to Last.fm?
>>60760955
I pick the genre I feel they most fit in most of the time and just put the whole discography there

How much music do you actually have then? Once you get over 100 artist I just don't see it as that practical, also if I'm in a specific genre "mood" I can look and then pick, which gives some listening to something I would have otherwise forgot or not cared enough to listen too

Mp3tag is a powerful and easy-to-use tool to edit metadata of audio files.
>>60761180
I have 17 GB worth of music, according to my computer. If I want to listen to random-ass music, I click the Shuffle button.

Of you have 17 gb of music now is the perfect time to pre organise before it gets too big

>pre organise
Why...? It's already organised.
I just want to add the damn album art.

Bump for help.
>>60761279
I'm not trying to "edit metadata", I want to add the album cover to WMP. Do you know how to do that?
>>60761697
just try it, you lazy fuck
>>60761740
I already fucking tried! I moved the art to the folder, I tried copying it and pasting it in like Windows XP.
Are you going to fucking help, or are you going t be another toxic shitposter?
Yet another Bump
Bump again
I'm gonna go take a shower, will check back when I get out.

Use mp3tag, you dirty fucking weeaboo. It works for album art.
>>60761785
Mp3tag edits the metadata of mp3 files, aka stuff like title, album, artist, and cover art. You can use it to add the cover art manually easily. That being said, assuming you aren't baiting it's pretty obvious that you need the simplest choice possible, so I'd say try using MusicBee as your player/library manager and Magic MP3 Tagger to do all your tagging (aka metadata editing) automatically.
>>60761697
Album cover art IS metadata, ya dunce. Look, here's a screenshot to show you how to use the program for your purposes.

Thank you! This is what I was looking for. Don't know why y'all couldn't have fucking said all this from the get-go, but that's /mu/ for ya.
>>60762777
What are the benefits of MusicBee over WMP?
>>60762959
It has many of the features of Foobar but it's not complex at all to set up since it has no plugins, only skins (though most of the important non-niche Foobar plugin functions have been incorporated into it.) Also if you take a few minutes it can be made to look great with skins. Also I'm pretty sure it supports more formats than WMP.
>>60763194
It also manages your library way better as well.
>>60762959
I haven't used WMP in ages, so I wouldn't know, but musicbee uses online databases to tag albums for you if you're lazy including album covers. It's also pretty clean looking and somewhat customizable. Features like native last.fm scrobbling, lyrics and support for devices like the iPod are also neat.
>>60760336
Why would you use anything other than iTunes. It's the prettiest and easiest to use and you're all kidding yourselves thinking you're les patricienes superior using foobar
>but muh flac
don't even fucking start with this shit. Everybody knows it doesn't sound any different from 320 mp3. Placebo effect faŠ¼
>>60763405
It's fucking bloatware man, it takes up way too much memory and it constantly pesters you for updates. Not to mention the fact that it's proprietary software. Also, if looks are what you're going for, iTunes looks woefully out of date with it's shitty faux-aluminum aesthetic.
>>60763405
I refuse to use anything made by Apple. I have never used iTunes nor owned an iPod or iPhone. They will never get a dollar of my money or a second of my support.
>>60763405
If your itunes icon isn't still blue you're a fool.
>>60763573
name one good substitute for the 250 gig ipod classic.
