Interesting take on it but I don't really see it that way. I feel like Dan's just trying to exorcise some inner demons by weaving this crazy-ass story about Voor and taking us along for the ride. it's not all doom and gloom too, take a track like Spectral Bride. it's both fun with the barroom sing-a-long shit at the start and beautiful with the latter half
Deathconciousness on the other hand, that's just pure FEEL BAD NOW for almost an hour and a half. not that that's by any means a bad thing

I think it depends. Sometimes when I feel like shit and listen to this(and Dans music in general) i feel better, sometimes the music makes the bad feelings more tangible and real. I think this is what i like about his music in general, it's suggestive and gives you space to fill with your own emotions, keeping the music alive and interesting even after i've listened to it regularly since its release.
