Well played.
All of The Velvet Underground's first three albums
>>60747077
>>60747078
Thanks.
Also pic related. My favorite album probably.
>>60747077
early Herbie Hancock will always be my favourite Herbie Hancock
wow, what a pleasant thread
>>60747342
all the children went to bed
>>60746767
Starts to fall off just a little bit in the second half. 9.5/10.
>>60746873
>>60746972
Maybe. I'd say 8.5/10.
>>60746891
No. 6/10.
>>60747364
I love nouns but that's not a 10/10. Plus Still is a better album
10/10=1
how must i purify it
>>60747364
I was going to disagree with you then I went back and listened to it and forgot how much I liked this album. It does taper off for the last few tracks though. the graduate is GOLD though
>>60747583
I listened to it on Spotify for the first time, and I thought that was the closing track at first. i was wondering why it seemed so unfinished after the first listen
But that track is awesome
>>60746700
one of my favorites, but the production gets a little muddy here and there, so it's difficult for me to give it a 10/10
>>60747365

>>60746767

>No. 6/10.
Get out.
>>60746972
6/10 album. The opener and closer are top tier but the rest is trash. The title track is an atrocity.
Imo tbqh fám
>>60746700
I like New Plastic Ideas way better. That album is makes me so content to be pissed at everything. The noodly sounding feedback.
>>60746700
sorry but there's no way that the songwriting on that album is good enough to warrant a 10/10 considering how dull it is sonically
>>60746747
you could make a very good argument for RIL being 10/10.
>>60746777
Out of all the eras of Miles, you choose his fusion era? Out of all his fusion recordings, you choose Live-Evil?
>>60746839
Boring background music for busrides
>>60746873
Best Floyd album of the era but not a 10/10. Pink Floyd's just not a 10/10 band.
>>60746891
Not enough replay value.
>>60746990
KillCheesyFusion.png
>>60747269
Listen to more 60s jazz
>>60747332
Great album but not 10/10 material, it's more notorious than perfect.
>>60747466
Jethro Tull is not a 10/10 band and you should know this.
>>60747535
I don't want to explain why the Sun City Girls could never put out a 10/10 album due to their "habit" of releasing a constant stream of rushed recordings so just take my word for it.
>>60747690
This album has never really been memorable for me at all, I'm confused why people cherish it so. Perhaps for the unique aesthetic, rather than the content.
>>60747716
2samey4me, although it's a 10/10 in the metal world.
>>60747873
Lacks replay value, many of the songs become obnoxious after too many listens, as is common among AnCo albums
here are my picks
Tom Waits - Rain Dogs
Grateful Dead - American Beauty
Bob Dylan - Blonde on Blonde
Brian Eno - Another Green World
Keith Jarrett trio - Standards Live
Minutemen - Double Nickels on the Dime
Stevie Wonder - Songs in the Key of Life
Beach Boys - Pet Sounds
Willie Nelson - Shotgun Willie
albums that have powerful and immediate impact on first listen, yet get better with time to the point where with each listen you discover more about them, that seem to exist in a mythology of their own.
>>60748159
Just wondering why you dont consider Pink Floyd a 10/10 band?
>>60748159
You should go back and listen to all those albums again. They're better than you think. You just don't seem to get them. but that's okay bud you can try again.
>>60748221
I can't really explain it but, while they did make music in a totally revolutionary style and continually adapted and evolved, their products never really feel like complete works of art, there's always a distance between me and their music that keeps me from really... caring. I suppose I could say that they're just not for me, but considering that there are many bands who play in similar styles or make music in similar ways (such as Can, Mercury Rev, or Bardo Pond), I think the problem is with them.
One of my recent favorites.
>>60748159
Agree with Blonde on Blonde--that's my #1 album
>>60748286
every one of them? don't you think that's a bit of an unreasonable request for someone with your rhetorical skills to make?

>>60748349
I'm confused what I've done to come off as arrogant, other than giving my opinion in an authoritative way, which is the basis for academic debate.
>>60748352
I agree that dalek has at least one 10/10 album but it's very difficult for me to pick my favorite of theirs. NNN is a good contender though
>>60748356
yep
>>60748296
Yeah maybe. I think that might be because their recordings have so much space in them. I don't know, it just seems to me unfair not to place them with the greats considering their live shows. Plus I still get shivers seeing the guitar solos here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mCrxrTp3tP4
>>60748414
Idler Wheel...
>>60748335
It sounds like you're being crtical just to be critical on these albums. You resort to saying things like "boring background music for busrides", "just take my word for it", or "not 10/10 and you should know this." Honestly extremely trivial criticisms. It sounds like you should listen to most of them again because you seem to have not listen close enough.
>>60748456
What is trivial about something being boring and for busrides? That sounds like a pretty major issue.
undisputed 10/10
>>60748477
Its not trivial, its just not an appropriate criticism for the music I think. Listen to it, its very epic music, and it builds well, its not just background soundscapes, theyre masters of creating tension. Good for busrides, but also for long walks and getting stoned to etc
>>60746700
How has no one mentioned this yet?

>>60746873
This used to be my favourite album ever so I hold onto the memories of it, although I don't enjoy it as much as I used to
>>60747690
I totally agree with this album being 10/10. It is absolutely magical
>>60747078
Ehh, I'm not a fan of S/t, WL/WH and TVU&N are both masterful though
>>60748731
it's pretty good more like a 7.5 though
>>60748720

>>60748159
Out of interest what would you consider sonically dull about Leaves Turn and what's wrong with the songwriting?
>>60749040
lmao I met a guy irl recently who considers this a 10/10 and he looks like a awkward hobbit
>>60749109
are you really disrespecting Songs in the Key of Life? because lad...
this definitely for me
>>60749366
I think I actually like Talon of the Hawk more but I consider this the better album overall.
>>60749550

>>60748675
Very nice
>>60749441
>>60749550
so you're like a charming hobbit or what
>>60749594
lego Frodo baggins was probably a better comparison, or the guy on the album cover, is that a requirement for this album?
>>60746700
i listened to this today and it's just boring and every song sounds the same
i enjoyed the opening drone thing though. 6/10
>>60749429
panopticon is better
>>60752516
thought the same exact thing when I heard it the first time. I think it's a 10 now
>>60748159
Sun City Girls have released two definite 10/10 albums, both from the same year.

>>60747077
good album, but I'd say it's an 8.5
I really loved the aesthetic it represented, but after repeatedly listening to the album for a few years, a few of the tracks have lost their gleam.
>>60748159
live-evil is sick as fuck bro. fusion miles is best miles
This album seems to be really overlooked because of ITAOTS, but if you look at it on its own, its a genius blending of 60's psych and 90's indie rock.
>>60755206
Agree, but Dark Magus is the one
>tfw can't find the other, superior, album cover in good quality
>>60754695

>>60758511
It might not be 10/10 (Innervisions is close though) but it's better than most of the albums ITT, so not sure why you took umbrage with it in particular. For being ~20 tracks long it's remarkably consistent, and its production is absolutely fantastic - ahead of its time, really.
