MDB has left their comfort zone on occasion with shit like 34.788% Complete or Evinta, albeit to debatable success. Also, I feel like they got considerably more depressed and less angry in their outlook after Dreadful Hours, though Feel The Misery is kinda a return to Dreadful Hours form in a way.
Anathema has been consistently good but Silent Enigma notwithstanding it kinda feels like metal's always been a slightly odd fit for them. They seem much more comfortable in their skin from Judgement onwards.
Paradise Lost is fucking Paradise Lost, they're gonna do whatever the hell they want and somehow it'll be fine. They've pulled so much shit at this point that the most surprising thing they could do now is settle on a sound.

Does Funeral Doom count as extreme doom metal? Or would that rather be drone metal? Or is drone metal extreme sludge metal?

Ok guys, you need to hear this, it's essentially a bunch of teenagers making shitty prog metalcore and the only reason anyone gives a fuck about them is because the drummer's father is Mike Portnoy who apparently produced the album, but I think he has done much more.
You don't have to listen to the whole album, the first track alone (which is called really extremely creatively The Edge of Sanity) is pure gold, it starts with extremely original intro of thunder and bells before transition into chug chug riffs and terrible screaming vocals, but the best part is the middle section which contains random drum fills and several samples of, I kid you not, Internet memes, when I heard that part for the first time I was laughing for straight 2 minutes.
