Was this the highest pinnacle for jazz? It's the only jazz record I've heard that sounds nothing like what came out before it

damn................................
I have yet to hear a jazz record, or even any record for that matter, that has surpassed this. Only a couple of Pharaoh's other albums have come close. If anyone has any recc's for shit like this I'm all ears because I can't get enough of it

In a Silent Way is better
>>60724565
I love this album as well, but to be honest A Love Supreme is basically a better version of it
>>60724456
It's a good album.

Try some Sun Ra.

This.

They're pretty different imo. But it's a good recommendation nonetheless. Nice dubs by the way.
>>60724586
Live-Evil is better.
>>60724761
This too. I mean, come on, there are at least a few Miles albums that are better than Bitches Brew. Still a good album though.

A Love Supreme is essentially the precursor to all spiritual jazz, and Pharoah Sanders is very closely associated with Coltrane having played with him extensively. Anyway, try something like McCoy Tyner (anything from Expensions or Asante onwards) or Lonnie Liston Smith (especially Astral Traveling), or just pretty much anything but Alice Coltrane from Journey In Satchidananda on.

Oh well, sure A Love Supreme was influential. But I don't think it captures that kind of 'spacey' quality nearly as well as Karma. It's just not what it's going for. But I feel you. Also, seconding Alice Coltrane. Haven't heard any of Tyner's work as a bandleader. How is it?
