I'm curious as to how the community might go about ranking Tim Hecker's work.
I like rankings, they satisfy me.
Please satisfy me.
Nah. My Love Is Rotten to the Core is his best release.

This is the correct list.
OP here.
Virgins > Ravedeath 1972 > Radio Amor > Harmony in Ultraviolet (My rankings thus far)
I've yet to really analyze his other works. Radio Amor and Harmony may also be interchangeable after further analysis.

Have yet to hear that most recent release but I think they are all pretty equal save for An Imaginary Country, which is still pretty good but I think sounded as if he tried just a little to hard. Audible effort can be a serious turnoff
Virgins is amazing

Interesting ranking.
I am utterly convinced that either Virgins or Ravedeath are his absolute best works however. I am having trouble deciding which one as they are so different in their sound pallet and texture.
Why is Ravedeath better than Virgins? From what i've heard of both, Virgins seems more diverse and varied.

Was also disappointing by Imaginary Country after two listens.
Felt incredibly uninspired, forced even.
Mirages> radio amor> harmony> virgins=ravedeath> fantasma parasatie> haunt me haunt me = an imaginary country

Diverse and varied doesn't neccessarily mean better. One could argue that linearity generally provides cohesion and better accessibility.
Interestingly enough, I will agree that Virgins seems more diverse (at least to a significant degree). This diversity seems logically given the more "direct" nature of Virgins.
By direct in this context, I do not mean linear; I am suggesting that Hecker wanted to present the listener with multiple details within the same setting in a more "forceful" manner if you will.
Again, I'm still having a hard time deciding which one I personally find to be the better album. Both are brilliant.

virgins made for an incredible live show, i can say that much.
