Why all the backlash? This is perfectly fine.

backlash?
overlong and generic as fuck
>>60695800
Exactly because of that, it's just OK, never really "amazing."
After the Pitchfork review everyone around here was an authority on contemporary jazz, it was pretty hilarious

Long as fuck
Kamasi's album is pretty consistent, I feel like. I agree that it does get kind of generic at times, and I can't say I'm a fan of some his more aggressive sax intersections. If I'm talking about this year in Jazz, Christian definitely does it for me over Kamasi.

The album is way too long and boring at parts, but I love it. It is definitely my favorite album of all time even though I don't even know what a jazz is.

Christian Scott, the album is Stretch Music. He's a trumpeter, and he incorporates a lot of outside influence into his work. Hip-hop, Indie, Fusion, etc. It's a good listen.

check out pierre bastien, he's one of my favorite contemp jazz musicians.

"Generic" is such an overused and thoughtless criticism.
