absolute pitch is very rare, even many virtuosos only have relative pitch. at this point i'm familiar enough with all the keys that if i were to sit down and figure out a popular song from memory alone i'd probably get it in the right key. but if i were to take a guitar that's completely out of tune and try to put it into E standard without any reference pitch, it'd probably end up half a semitone out or something.

I actually have it and it really doesn't help that much with music. It's more of a nice trick to show off that you can identify a pitch being played.
