not the best cardiacs , could have done without whatever Jon Poole added to the band it got way better on their final album.
It's funny how excessive wackiness is fine when you make it 'edgy' and 'dark' but if it's apparently lighthearted it'll get memed into oblivion. Treading the delicate line of mass approval from wankers is a tricky game.
My favorite album ever, one of the most emotionally intense albums ever, and one of the best song oriented rock albums ever.

Seaside is not better, just in case!
Jon Poole added some of the best parts from the album though. Horse's Tail, Manhoo, Fiery Gun Hand's guitar solo, Bell Stinks/Clinks, and Angleworm Angel. It's like half of the album was made by him.

I think Part One and bits of Part Two (especially Dirty Boy) are complete genius. The songwriting is really fucking tight throughout and SO hooky. I think it's the vocals that turn most people off it.
Hard to have a proper conversation about it on /mu/ though. Good luck friend.
