Do you think 2015 was a good year for music?
I thought it was fantastic imo, so many good albums came out

As far as music in general, I'd say it's on par with 2014. Definitely a solid year, and a major step up from 2013, but it's nowhere near 2011/2012 levels

This entire year has been pretty mediocre actually
a lot of hype that led to really middling efforts
the only album that slightly lived up to the hype was Julia Holter and that's mainly for the 6 minute tracks. rest were lame
this was the same as 2014, you had to dig to get the good stuff. but the names attached to the releases this year were more popular so more people think that this is a better year

people talk about C&L a lot but honestly the album was mediocre too. a lot of kind of poppy but overall not very meaningful songs. weak impact.
except John My Beloved. I think that might be one of his bests. just the way it develops from that simple dominant pedal into the lushness at the end of the song. I also think formally it's helped in the more strophic flow.

Are you shitting me? This year was suppose to have EVERYONE dropping albums in hip-hop, but not many did and those who did released "meh" albums. Literally there were probably only 10 projects that were higher than 6/10. 2011/12 were so much better
Aphex Twin gave away almost 300 unreleased tracks for free so yeah it was pretty fuckin good

2010 is an overrated year. like the main albums I hear talked about are this is happening, HOOM, MBDTF, Age of Adz, and occasionally archandroid. TIH is often considered inferior to Sound of Silver, HOOM inferior to Ys, MBDTF is too meme to discuss, and Age of Adz inferior to Illinois
